At the first appointment, a candidate undergoes a complete assessment of the entire nasal structure, from the outer pyramid and its relationship with the rest of the facial anatomy, to the endo-nasal structures such as the nasal septum and turbinates and the peri-nasal sinuses.
When nasosinusal pathology is diagnosed, it can be corrected during the same surgical procedure.
The desired result is analysed in terms of the overall face, seeking a harmonious nose that fits into the individual's particular context without the stigma of an "operated nose".

Septoplasty

Septoplasty is surgery that corrects deviations in the central structure of the nose, the nasal septum.
This intervention is carried out when there are functional problems caused by obstruction of the nasal cavities, resulting in nasal respiratory insufficiency and/or sinusitis, and when there are aesthetic problems if the deviation of the nasal septum affects the positioning of the nasal pyramid.
The nasal septum is an osteo-cartilaginous structure covered by mucosa. To attach the skeletal structure, a vertical incision is required in the mucosa of the nasal vestibule (at the entrance to the nose), which will not be visible.
The surgery is usually carried out on an outpatient basis, so it is only necessary to stay in the clinic for the first 4 hours after surgery.
The post-operative period is generally painless. Post-operative discomfort is mainly due to the nasal tamponade (when necessary), which remains in place for 1 or 2 days. It's worth noting that the nasal packing is a perfectly painless moment, as we use a personalised, delicate, plasticised packing, which allows for atraumatic sliding.
Post-operative recovery takes 5 to 7 days.
