Fractionated CO2 laser: what is it?
The Fractionated CO2 Laser is considered the gold-standard non-surgical treatment for skin rejuvenation. It can be applied to the following areas:
- Face (facial rejuvenation)
- Neck
- Neckline
- Hands
Benefits of treatment
By stimulating collagen production, this treatment also leads to a gradual improvement in results over the following months.
By treating only a "fraction" of the facial skin, the healing process is faster, with less downtime and fewer complications compared to the first CO2 lasers.
This laser can also be used as a scalpel to perform minor skin surgery.
FAQS
However, you may still experience some discomfort during and after treatment.
For more aggressive treatments, we block some nerves to ensure that the area is completely anaesthetised.
The degree and duration of these reactions will depend on the depth/aggressiveness of your treatment.
Wounded and exuding skin can persist for 1 to 10 days, while redness can last from 1 to 12 weeks, depending on the depth of treatment. Generally, oedema is a short-term response. The use of cold compresses and a suitable sleeping position (belly up and head elevated) are recommended.
Only in very specific cases do we carry out this treatment in the summer.
Fractionated CO2 Laser
People with darker skin tones are at greater risk of pigmentary complications in the treated area, including dark pigmentation (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) or loss of pigment (hypopigmentation).
For these reasons, not everyone is a candidate for CO2 laser resurfacing and a consultation is necessary.
If you are not a candidate for the CO2 laser, other treatments are available at the MYFACE clinic.
