What is it?
Wrinkles give the face an aged and tired appearance. Find out more about how to minimise the signs of skin ageing, particularly with Hyaluronic Acid and Botulinum Toxin treatments.
A Aesthetic MedicineThis branch of medicine, which has undergone remarkable development in recent years, seeks to attenuate the signs of ageing, making it as harmonious as possible.
Nowadays, botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid are among the most requested aesthetic procedures. At MYFACE clinic, we specialise in the application of botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid fillers to help combat wrinkles, lines and facial furrows.
Our medical specialists always carry out a thorough assessment of each patient to determine the best treatment plan to follow and which product(s) are best suited to their needs.
We offer a variety of treatments, including hyaluronic acid-based fillers such as Restylane®, Juvederm® and Belotero Balance®, as well as other injectable wrinkle fillers.
Wrinkle treatment
Collagen, hyaluronic acid and elastin: these are the three fundamental components of facial skin. These elements form a kind of firm, spongy network beneath the skin's surface, which helps to keep it firm and smooth.
While we are young, this compact structure provides support to prevent wrinkles from forming. However, as we get older, these proteins gradually weaken and break down, resulting in a lack of firmness and elasticity in the skin's support structure. The loss of elasticity causes the face to lose its former glow as wrinkles begin to form.
FAQS
It works by reducing the activity of the muscles to which it is applied, thus preventing them from contracting too much and forming wrinkles.
Neuromodulators or neurotoxins are also names sometimes used for botulinum toxin and other treatments based on it.
The most common dynamic wrinkles that botulinum toxin can treat are those in the frontal area, such as:
- wrinkles on the forehead (horizontal lines);
- periocular wrinkles (the "crow's feet" around the eyes);
- the "11", wrinkles between the eyebrows (glabella);
In this way, botulinum toxin will not result in fine lines and wrinkles caused by sagging or loss of volume in the face. These are called static wrinkles.
It should also be noted that botulinum toxin treatments are often used for medical purposes, such as treating chronic migraines or hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).
- on the skin;
- in the eyes;
- in the joints.
Hyaluronic acid helps keep the skin moisturised and smooth by binding to water and forming a protective barrier on the skin's surface. It also helps maintain the skin's elasticity and firmness.
In fact, the hyaluronic acid used in fillers is very similar to that found naturally in the body. For this reason, it is safe and effective for facial fillers.
The most common areas treated with hyaluronic acid are:
- nasolabial folds (the so-called "Chinese moustache");
- periroal wrinkles (known as "barcodes");
In addition to preventing and treating wrinkles, hyaluronic acid is used for facial harmonisation.
In some cases, a tiny particle of hyaluronic acid can also be used, not to add volume, but just to moisturise the skin.
- slight cephalalgia (headache);
- swelling;
- itching;
- redness;
- discomfort at the application site.
However, any effects that may appear usually disappear within 1 to 2 days.
